Festival Of The Dead: Tree of Life - A Practical Mixed Media Workshop - Open Learning

The Mexicans recognise death as a natural part of the human experience, a continuum of birth, childhood and growing up to be a contributing member of the community. The many images produced for the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations include skulls, skeletons, flowers and “The Tree of Life” in both 2D and 3D.

This practical workshop will focus on using students own photographs and memorabilia to produce a personal or family tree. Practical techniques will cover collage, photo montage, painting and drawing and a range of media and techniques will be covered.

All materials will be provided but students are invited to bring in their own photographs and images as resource material.
