A History of Us: A Stencilled (Sort Of) History of the Human Race, By Street Artist Pahnl

Witty, sometimes factual and often a little bit subversive, A History of Us takes visitors on a wry journey through the (sort of) history of the human race, starring a riot of tiny, graphic people.

Spray painted with stencils and offering an unconventional view of the past, this is our history as seen through the eyes of street artist Pahnl.

From primal prehistory, to the pyramid-building Egyptians, the proud Romans, the dim Dark Ages, the industrious Victorians, and the World Wars that followed, the exhibition hurtles toward life today and onwards to a speculative future. Look out for the dawning of inventions like the wheel, pointy swords, alcohol, politicians, electricity bills, flight and predictive text.

Pahnl has been painting tiny people and animals for over 10 years and this is his biggest challenge to date. His 44-metre long miniature history of humanity tells a fascinating story about our past, our love of discord and progress, and what the future (maybe) holds for the human race.

Exhibition supported by the Arts Council England.
