International 4th of July Gala Concert
This sensational concert features not only a world-class orchestra and choir of 200 voices, but four conductors!
The programme opens with Paul Leddington Wright conducting the Te Deum which was commissioned by Coventry Cathedral’s Saint Michael’s Singers for their Golden Jubilee in 2012. Terry Price, Director of Music of the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir from Dallas, will then direct Rimsky-Korsakov’s exciting Gloria. This will be followed by Oxford composer, Bob Chilcott, conducting movements from his Requiem and St John Passion. Bob Chilcott is one of the UK’s most exciting and active composers having been a founder member of the original King’s Singers.
John Rutter is an internationally-acclaimed composer and conductor. His major works, Gloria, Magnificat, Requiem, and Mass of the Children are frequently performed all over the world. His latest major work will receive its US première in April, 2015, in Dallas, and will then receive its UK première on July 4th in Coventry Cathedral, conducted by the composer.
