We Are Leif

Four Bristol musicians combining Neo-Soul Down Tempo & Jazz. Formed in 2016, all four members of We Are Leif are established jazz musicians, they invite the audience into moments of exciting improvisational flights within the narrative of the song as a key component to their live performance.

Led by the songwriting team of vocalist Louise Victoria and drummer, Mark Whitlam, We Are Leif deftly span the balance of jazz sensibilities. Louise’s voice sits comfortable alongside the company of Gretchen Parlato and Becca Stevens. Musically there are nods in the direction of Erykah Badu and Jill Scott whilst retaining a classic Bristol sound, steeped in the history of bands like Portishead, Massive Attack and Lamb.

Their debut album Breathe was released to a sell out audience at London’s Pizza Express Live jazz club in September 2018, having also received extensive airplay on Jazz FM and BBC6 Music Introducing… Over the past two years, they have been invited to play major jazz festivals in the UK including Cheltenham, Manchester and London Jazz Festival and appeared at So What’s Next? festival in The Netherlands.
