Successful applicants selected at random will be notified by email by 6pm on Thursday 15 November. If all tickets are not taken up in the first booking round, further random selections will be made until all tickets are allocated. If you have not been successful the venue will notify you by email by Friday 30 November.

A message from Ian McKellen:

I’m celebrating my 80th birthday by touring a new solo show to theatres I know well and a few that I don’t. The show starts with Gandalf and will probably end with an invitation to act with me on stage. In between there will be anecdotes and acting.

Live theatre has always been thrilling to me, as an actor and in the audience. Growing up in Lancashire, I was grateful to those companies who toured beyond London and I’ve always enjoyed repaying that debt by touring up and down the country myself, with the RSC, the National Theatre, Prospect Theatre, the Actors’ Company, as well as with commercial productions.

Tickets for Ian McKellen On Stage at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester, will only be available by ballot, ensuring everyone is given equal opportunity to access these highly sought after tickets.

Registration for the ballot will close at 12 noon on Wednesday 14 November. All applicants have an equal chance of selection regardless of the time of registration.

Successful applicants selected at random will be notified by 6pm on Thursday 15 November and will have the opportunity to purchase up to 2 tickets online for either the matinee or evening fundraiser performance at £80 each from 10am on Friday 16 November. A particular performance and seat allocation (except Access) cannot be guaranteed.

Tickets will only be available to be collected in person on the day of the performance when ID will be required. Tickets may not be resold or transferred for profit or commercial gain. To do so will render tickets void and the holder will be refused entry.
