This May, join Levison Wood, the world-renowned explorer, best-selling author and TV presenter, as he embarks on his fifth UK theatre tour, Walking the World: A Life of Exploration and Adventure.
This brand-new show will celebrate the human spirit and the transformative power of travel, with captivating stories from Levison’s remarkable adventures over the past 20 years, from the icy landscapes of the Himalayas to the scorching deserts of Arabia.
Levison will take audiences on a visual and emotional journey spanning his entire career to date, including Walking the Nile (which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary), the Himalayas and Americas, as well as documenting efforts to protect endangered species across three continents and exploring volatile borders across the Middle East. He will also offer an exclusive preview of his latest book, The Great Tree Story: How Forests Have Shaped Our World and a behind-the-scenes look at the development of a major film.
Walking the World: A Life of Exploration and Adventure will inspire both seasoned travellers and those dreaming of their first journey, as Levison delves into the philosophy of exploration, reflecting on how his military background, his love for photography and his role as a journalist have shaped his approach to travel.
Levison Wood
Levison Wood is a British Army officer and explorer who is best known for his extended walking expeditions in Africa and Asia. Over the course of nine months from 2013-2014 he undertook the first ever expedition to walk the entire length of the river Nile from Nyungwe Forest in Rwanda, beginning in December 2013. It was commissioned into a four-part documentary series for Channel 4 in the UK. He also wrote a Sunday Times bestselling book detailing the expedition, Walking the Nile. In 2015 he walked the length of the Himalayas from Afghanistan in the west to Bhutan in the east. He has also undertaken numerous other overland journeys including a foot crossing of Madagascar and mountain climbing in Iraq. He documents his journeys through books, documentaries and photography.
