The Vessel, Death and the Human Body
Julian Stair is one of the world's most acclaimed ceramicists.
This major solo exhibition explores the containment of the human body after death.
It features a collection of Stair's very beautiful funerary vessels, from cinerary jars to monumental life-size sarcophagi.
Drawing upon the symbolic language of ceramic vessels, it offers an alternative means of engaging with this challenging subject.
Quietus is a touring exhibition in collaboration with mima: Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.
