This family opera is the final instalment in English Touring Opera’s climate change trilogy.

Do you remember what happened that strange night in the Forest of Arden?

Puck does. It’s been a while since A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Athens is changing. The forest is being chopped down, and as each tree vanishes, more magic disappears from the land. It’s time to find Oberon and Titania and restore the beauty of the forest.

The Vanishing Forest follows the events of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Puck joins forces with Cassie and Mylas, children of Duke Theseus and Hippolyta, to educate and inspire children on the issue of deforestation with Shakespearean-infused song, puppetry and adventure.

Written by Jonathan Ainscough, composed by Michael Betteridge and directed by Victoria Briggs, The Vanishing Forest is the third and final instalment in English Touring Opera’s climate change trilogy, following The Wish Gatherer (Best Opera at YAMAwards 2024) and The Great Stink.

Sung in English with English captions.
