ETO returns with a beautiful bel canto opera, telling the tale of two lovers, doomed by the conflict between their families.
Italian composer, Vincenzo Bellini’s The Capulets and the Montagues (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) is a gritty re-working of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Loyalty and love are put to the test amidst political violence, set to exquisite ‘bel canto’ (literally meaning beautiful singing) operatic music that brings the story’s tragedy to the fore.
