Turner And The Thames
Tim was appointed the first ever musician Artist in Residence at Tate Britain in 2009 to research and compose music in response to the work of JMW Turner.
The 2013 London Jazz Festival commissioned him to compose and perform ‘Turner and the Thames’, a multi-media celebration of London's great river and Turner's lifelong relationship with it. The work is based around eight locations the artist painted with music composed around spontaneous improvisations performed there.
With Tim on saxophones are Jonathan Gee (piano), Oli Hayhurst (double bass) and Winston Clifford (drums).
Tim Whitehead
One of the UK's most inventive modern jazz tenor sax players (ex Morrisey-Mullen).
