Revolve And Rotate
Please note: Info provided by the Event Organiser
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Luke Daniels is one of the UK’s most gifted and inventive musicians, forging a reputation as front man in his own right and as a virtuoso melodeon player for Ian Anderson, De Dannan, Riverdance and The Cara Dillon Band.
Luke’s latest project, Revolve and Rotate, is a suite of six new 100 second pieces played on a c1880 Polyphon machine, combined with live performance. The extraordinary music created by this perfect alignment of musical creativity and Victorian master engineering remains a vital chapter in the development of British popular music.
Mass produced in varying sizes for a European market between 1880 and 1914 by the company that became Deutsche Gramaphon, the Polyphon’s success owed much to traditional dance tunes that were arranged concentrically on its large steel discs for mass public consumption and represented the democratisation of British Folk music.
