Steeleye Span

Steeleye Span’s not just a legendary name in British music but also a link to the classic days of rock and folk music.

Now they are touring with a new live show with Maddy Prior - the voice of the band - leading a line-up featuring faces old and new. 2014 saw Steeleye Span embarking on a exciting new chapter.

With the departure of fiddle player and long-standing member Peter Knight, who visited Buxton earlier this year with Gigspanner, the band introduced Jessie May Smart. A departure to what we have come accustomed to with Steeleye Span, Smart is a young, vibrant talent.

2014 also saw the release of a deluxe version of their album Wintersmith in collaboration with Sir Terry Pratchett with an extra CD including four new studio tracks. A record that delighted long time fans, Wintersmith introduced Steeleye Span to a new audience and broke new creative ground, and they look forward to continuing this story throughout 2016.

Their new CD, The Essential Steeleye Span - Catch Up, was released at the end of last year and looks back on the band’s long and lasting career.
