Luca Luciano

Part of a UK tour of churches and cathedrals to promote Luciano's latest album Partenope, this project is informed by Luciano research on extended techniques and new music for solo clarinet that he has often presented during premieres held in the UK or overseas.

The core of the performance is made of the Sequenza written/arranged by Luciano and the Stravinsky's Three Pieces along with re-arrangements of famous themes by Villa-lobos and Gershwin. During the performance the clarinet is pushed to the edge using a wide range of styles and expressions on music both written and composed in real time.

Luciano tries in this remarkable journey to embrace all styles of music he loves in an imaginative tour around the world from Western European music to Afro-American or folkloric music of Southern Italy, from contemporary classical music with chromatic and angular-shaped lines to heartfelt melodies.
