Jan Akkerman gained international fame with Focus from 1969-1976 with whom he recorded a number of breakout albums. In 1973 Akkerman was named ‘World’s Best Guitarist’ by Melody Makes in a Top 10 that included Eric Clapton, Steve Howe, Jimmy Page and John McLaughlin.
Expect to hear music from Jan’s long career including his favourite Focus tunes and more recent compositions.
Jan Akkerman
Jan Akkerman is a Dutch guitarist. He first found international commercial success with the band Focus, whom he co-founded with Thijs van Leer. After leaving Focus, Akkerman continued as a solo artist, adding jazz fusion influences. He has also introduced baroque music into his repertoire.
