A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

'Something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone: a comedy tonight!' So says the song that begins this award winning musical comedy.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum is Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart's bawdy tale of Pseudolus, set to the music and lyrics of the fantastic Stephen Sondheim.

Pseudolus, 'the lyingest, cheatingest, sloppiest slave in all of Rome', attempts to win his freedom by helping his master woo the girl next door. But in the ensuing mayhem, will he succeed? Directed by Jenny Stephens and inspired by the comedies of Plautus, this is an irreverent romp filled with slapstick humour, mistaken identities, zany characters and the infectious energy of classic vaudeville.

'A show that has strong claims to being the funniest musical every written' (The Guardian on A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum).
