Mother Goose
This sparkling and fun filled pantomime by Ron Hall, originally produced by Hanham Players in 2006, is now updated and revised for 2017.
Mother Goose is one of the most enjoyed pantomimes - it first appeared in 1806 entitled 'Harlequin and Mother Goose' or 'The Golden Egg', opening on Boxing Day and played for 92 nights.
The version you know today is a mere 114 years old. It has a strong 'Beauty and Wealth cannot bring you happiness' message.
Our production follows the traditional telling with some fun diversions, new characters and lots of jokes and songs. Based around Mother Goose’s farm house where she lives with Jack and Jill. They are very poor and are threatened with eviction by the nasty Squire. But the Fairy Queen saves the day by sending Priscilla the goose who lays Golden Eggs. But the Demon Queen and Squire conspire to get the Goose, leading to a whole lot of trouble, and some ghosts and ghouls.
