Slapstick's Silent Comedy Gala
Rory Bremner hosts the festival’s flagship event, this year featuring a triple bill of silent classics each accompanied by live music and a special appearance by Roy Hudd saluting one his music hall heroes, Max ‘Cheeky Chappie’ Miller.
The programme opens with Harold Lloyd in The Freshman (1925) followed by The Finishing Touch (1928) starring Laurel and Hardy, and then The High Sign (1921) from Buster Keaton. Music will be provided by the 25-piece Bristol Ensemble and the European Silent Screen Virtuosi, under the baton of Slapstick’s musical director Guenther A Buchwald.
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
