Rene Baker

A practical and playful exploration into the expressive possibilities of puppets and objects. Working with a variety of figures and everyday objects, participants will discover the object's potential for symbolic communication and examine techniques for bringing puppets to life through movement.

Rene Baker specialises in puppet and object theatre, with over 25 years professional practice as a performer, director, designer, researcher and pedagogue. 1998-2005 she taught puppet manipulation at the Central School of Speech and Drama (London), 2005-2010 she lectured in visual theatre and directed performances at the Institut del Teatre (Barcelona) and from 2010-2012 taught at the Turku Academy of Arts in Finland. In 2012 Rene returned to the UK and is currently a freelance director, trainer and coach in puppet and object theatre.
