The Toy Museum Folk Club is Brighton's newest traditional folk night, bringing the very best acts to the unique setting of Brighton Toy and Model Museum. Come and watch intimate acoustic sets from the finest folk talents, and explore the train sets, model planes and traditional children's toys on display in the museum.
It's amazing to us that in their 12 year history the fantastic Harp and a Monkey have never played a Brighton gig! In fact, when we found out, we were quick to make sure we could remedy this.
Harp and a Monkey are all the things we love about folk music - fine musicianship, evocative storytelling and an inescapable sense of the rebel spirit! Touring in support of their latest record, The Victorians, Harp and a Monkey will be taking over the Toy Museum Folk Club for the whole evening - no support act this time round, as the Lancashire trio take our Toy Museum audience for a journey to remember in a venue you'll never forget!
Harp And A Monkey
Songs about cuckolded molecatchers, a lone English oak tree that grows at Gallipoli, care in the community and medieval pilgrims...we can only be talking about the folk experimentalists Harp and a Monkey. Their electro-folk storytelling is imbued with a deep Lancashire sensibility that shines through in their beautifully crafted and sometimes spooky vignettes of northern life, love and remembrance.
