Jackie Oates is a name synonymous with the reinvigoration of English folk music, beguiling audiences with a delicate balance of tradition and reinvention. Her mellifluous voice and imaginatively plaintive fiddle style has won her several BBC Folk Awards. She was a founder member of Northumbrian group and Mercury nominated Rachel Unthank and the Winterset. Collaborations with Alasdair Roberts, Belinda O'Hooley and her brother Jim Moray has earned her fans beyond the folk scene she grew up in. Jackie is now a permanent member of the folk super-group The Imagined Village as well as touring in her own right.
"A celebrity in the new folk scene" - The Guardian
"Oates has a clear voice that is at once traditional and modern." - Q
"Charming and occasionally jaw-droppingly beautiful" - Froots
