Birmingham Classical - Rachmaninoff And Mahler
Yuri Temirkanov and the renowned St Petersburg Philharmonic make their hotly-awaited return to Birmingham for a programme of Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Mahler.
Prokofiev’s Haydn-inspired Classical Symphony sits alongside Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, the most technically challenging of the composer’s piano concertos. The brilliant and inimitable soloist Freddy Kempf needs no introduction to Birmingham audiences. After the concerto, Belarusian soprano Nadine Koutcher joins the orchestra for the warmth and intimacy of Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
