The Chorões

Transporting you back to the bars and concert halls of early 20th century Rio de Janeiro, the Chorões present a concert exploring the joyful world of Choro! Drawing on Afro-Brazilian and European classical music Choro emerged in the mid-19th century and grew throughout the early 20th century - it is now widely regarded as the first characteristically Brazilian genre of urban popular music. The ensemble is a quartet of Clarinet, Guitar, Cavaquinho (Brazilian ukulele) and Pandeiro (Brazilian tambourine), who will take you through a musical tour of Choro’s composers, history and style.
