Mendelssohn Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage

Bruch Violin Concerto No.1

Farrenc Overture No. 2

Schumann Symphony No. 4

ALPESH CHAUHAN CONDUCTOR

ALEXEY SEMENENKO VIOLIN

The joy of a gathering wind so a working ship can finally set sail and earn its passage. The lyrical, song-like lines of a solo violin that are melancholy as well as virtuosic and utterly intoxicating; so much so it is widely considered the best violin concerto of all time. The exuberant scurrying of the orchestra in a tempestuous symphonic overture. The intense passion and dark drama of a radically new symphony. This programme features four composers writing in the early Romantic period, early in their careers, and music that is the perfect maelstrom of emotion to define the era.
