La Bohème
by Giacomo Puccini
Paris. Christmas Eve.
A chance meeting between a young poet and a seamstress living next door sparks a whirlwind romance. But can their youthful passion endure, or will circumstance thwart their young love?
Northern Ireland Opera, collaborating with regular partner the Ulster Orchestra, present a very special concert performance of Puccini’s iconic opera La bohème as part of the orchestra’s 50th anniversary celebrations. One of opera’s best-loved and most unforgettable stories, Puccini’s exquisitely beautiful tale of young love and tragedy in bohemian Paris has inspired countless great opera productions, and many of its arias (O soave fanciulla, Che gelida manina, Quando me’n vo and more) are amongst the best-loved in all of opera.
Conducted by the Ulster Orchestra’s Chief Conductor Rafael Payare and with the Belfast Philharmonic Choir, this performance will include a cast of soloists drawn from across Northern Ireland and Ireland, featuring Northern Ireland’s leading soprano Giselle Allen.
Concert Performance.
Sung in Italian.
