Tom Hartley

Local historian Tom Hartley will take you on a journey through the graveyards of Milltown and Belfast City cemeteries and talk about his research into the lives of those buried there: priests and nuns, architects and footballers, businessmen and poets, hurlers and harp makers, British Army soldiers and IRA volunteers. Tom will
examine key events in Belfast's history - the First and Second World Wars, the Troubles, Home Rule, and the Dockers' Strike of 1907, as well as the development of shipbuilding and other industries, and the careers of the many writers, artists, entertainers and sportsmen who have helped to enhance the city's international reputation over the years and who are buried in the cemeteries.
