Jacqui Dankworth

The Quarry Theatre at St. Luke's welcome renowned vocalist and recording artist Jacqui Dankworth and her band for a live concert performance to kick off the 2015-2016 season of her music series, "A Song For You." Described by the Sunday Times as "one of our finest singers, regardless of category," Jacqui's concert appearances and her stylistically diverse recordings showcase her virtuosic mastery of a wide spectrum of musical genres. Known primarily as a jazz singer, Jacqui also draws freely on folk, soul and blues influences. She is equally at home performing with small ensembles and jazz big bands, celebrated classical musicians like the Brodsky String Quartet, symphony orchestras like the RTÉ and Liverpool Philharmonic, or her own highly original projects like The Butterfly Wing.

As not only a prominent practitioner but also a lifelong supporter of the preforming arts (and also as a new and very enthusiastic Bedford resident and supporter), Jacqui is delighted to be performing at the Quarry Theatre at St. Luke's and to be involved from the start in the exciting rejuvenation of this beautiful performance space.
