Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet

Returning to Bath following a triumphant debut in 2016, this exciting and talented company will showcase an opulent new version of The Nutcracker, with stunning baroque designs, in repertory with the beautiful classic Swan Lake.

Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet, under the direction of Marina Medvetskaya, has won plaudits across the world.Demonstrating the superb technique and artistic heritage from the cradle of Russian ballet – the City of St Petersburg - and presenting the best-loved Russian ballet titles, Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet’s performances have an air of magic, complemented by a full orchestra and outstanding soloists who will take your breath away!

Natalia Romanova, who will be the soloist in both ballets, studied under the legendary ballerina Natalya Dudinskaya. In 1998 she joined the Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet from The Maly, and has danced principal roles with the company all over the world. Her partner on this tour will be Petr Borchenko, a Laureate of the International Ballet Competition (Varna) whose previous winners include Mikhail Barishnikov and Sylvie Guillem.

Swan Lake is the romantic story of the Prince and the Swan Princess, a tragic tale of love that triumphs over evil, set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime, soaring dramatic score.
