She's Fired: The story of the Seaham Colliery disaster of September 1880
Written and performed by a group of former miners and North East folk musicians, She’s Fired is a narrative with music based on the 1880 Seaham Pit Disaster, where lives of 164 men and boys were lost.
The scene is a pit face where nine men and six boys are trapped and waiting to be rescued. The narrative is complemented by original songs and cameos.
The performance oozes with the realities and the ups and down of colliery village life and the conditions in which miners worked daily in the quest for coal.
