This event has been and gone.
The BCO were established ten years ago by British composer and violinist Christian Garrick. Led by Christian they play a blistering barrage of traditional folk and gypsy-flavoured music from across the Balkans and Russia, Klezmer laments, Romanian Doinas, Hungarian Czardas and their own unique re-imaginings of some of the biggest pieces ever written by the greats.
Budapest Café Orchestra
The New Budapest Café Orchestra plays powerful, folk-based music, inspired by Eastern European gypsies. The Café Orchestra are Chris Garrick (violin and darbuka), Eddie Hession (free bass accordion), Kelly Cantlon (double bass) and Adrian Zolotuhin (guitar, saz, balalaika). With impassioned Hungarian Czardas, tender Russian folk melodies and rollicking dances from Romania and Moldavia. 'They will leave you with a grin on your face and rhythm in your feet' (The Times).
