Ruck 'N' Roll - 6 Nations Round 2

England vs Wales on the big screen, then a Mike Coldfield Presents, Four amazing bands straight from Manchester.

Twisted Illusion - Twisted Illusion are a prog rock band based in Manchester, UK.

Influenced by the prog giants of the 70's but with a notably unique sound of their own Twisted Illusion are making a name for themselves as the must see/hear prog band in the UK right now.

The band released their debut "Temple of Artifice" in 2016 and have since gigged all over the UK to promote it's release.

The band played a sold out hometown show in 2016 to celebrate the success of TOA.

With a full length album and a double album released just 12 months apart the 4 piece prog outfit has gained a notable fan base and has even performed for the first time at Bloodstock festival in 2017.

Their recent double album "Insight to the Mind of a Million Faces has gained national attention, with reviews appearing in both Classic Rock and Prog Magazine.

Love Queen? Rush? Dio? How about if you crammed them all together into one big, fleshy prog-rock meatloaf, seasoned with a lack of restraint that makes Devin Townshend look like John Denver? If that sounds palatable, then Twisted Illusion could be right up your street. (Classic Rock magazine).
Brand new album "Insight to the Mind of a Million Faces" out now!

Jupiters Carnival - 'Jupiter's carnival claim to be from Bristol, but they sound more like they just woke up in laurel canyon after partying on Mars. They blend stomping hard rock with blues, funk, soul and loopy psychedelia into a head-spinning collage of sound' - Classic Rock Magazine.

‘Recorded in Bristol with Jim Barr (Portishead) this may well appeal to those who wish that the last 40 years were just a bad dream. The lazy ‘Smokestack lightning’ intro to ‘Waiting For The Day’ ushers in a soulful and convincing take on Coverdale-era deep Purple and that bluesy underbelly is visible again in the eastern-tinged psych-rocker, ‘The Sun Still Shines’.

A funky mid-section pulls us ever further westwards until by the time we get to the Booker T-steeped ‘Come Home’ we are slap bang in land-locked USA and about as far away from the English west country as you can get.

The strut of ‘See The Fire’ presages the closing ‘Within Your Mind’, which might as well be Sly Stone and Lowell George jamming with the Allmans. With great vocals and superb musicianship and arrangements , what reason is there not to do the time warp again?’ - Shindig Magazine.

Kinky Wizzards - The Kinky Wizzards are the musician’s musicians, but oh, can they jam. They have a slick, groovy, funk stream running through every song that provides a great backbone to be enjoyed by the rock music lover’s ear.

I heard their set at The Cambridge Rock Festival last weekend as they went through all of their songs from their latest album, ‘Quirky Musings’ and watched knowingly as the tent filled with more and more audience while they played on.

This band is technically superior and has an organised complexity all the while being very endearing rockers.  This is not rock in the traditional sense as they have opted to keep it solely instrumental and they shift easily between jazz funk to something approaching prog rock.

Their enthusiasm is deeply infectious which is impressive despite them having driven down from Cardiff that morning to be in the first performing slot on stage that day. The band sounds tight with a fluid guitar that is precise in execution, exactitude in the drumming, and smooth, almost languid bass.
