The Basement is a 100 capacity events space situated below the Picturehouses Cinema right in the heart of York city centre. It's located on the main shopping street, ten mintues from both train and bus stations. The venue hosts a mixture of events including the highly acclaimed Hyena Lounge Comedy Club, an eclectic selection of live music, burlesque and cabaret. It's low ceiling and side on layout make the venue incredibly intimate with the crowds within easy touching distance of the performers.The Basement has a character of it's own.
