Never miss another 'Eliza Carthy' show
The Fiddle Girls: Eliza Carthy + Bella Hardy + Lucy Farrell
Four of the finest female players in British music, Eliza Carthy, Bella Hardy, Lucy Farrell and Kate Young bring together passion, soul and enormous talent. Their four part harmonies and quartet fiddle playing revive old favourites and initiate brand new songs.
"The word "Laylam" means "chorus": a good reason to sing together in any setting. Often relating to birds...which we are. Join in then." Eliza Carthy
New album "Laylam" out on HemHem Records, January 2013.
The daughter of Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson - and the new star of British folk - playing traditional English folk music at its best. Eliza breathes new life into England's traditional folk music with her witty and energetic repertoire. Eliza's band are: Eliza (fiddle, guitar, accordion, voice), Willy Molleson (drums), Emma Smith (double dass), Phil Alexander ( piano, accordion) and Bethany Porter (cello).

Bella is one of the finest young folk acts around, singing unaccompanied ballads, or entwining her hypnotic voice with her own fiddle accompaniment to breathtaking effect. Three times nominated in the BBC Folk Awards, she has a voice marked as '...mesmerising' and '...faultless'. Her songs touch on both the fantastical, storytelling elements of Kate Bush and the lovelorn songwriting craft of Carole King, ranging in subject matter from fairytales to English working class history via childhood nostalgia, myths, murder and the human condition.
