Critically acclaimed actors Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will be teaming up for a new production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot next year. The play, which first premiered in 1955, focuses on the conversations of two tramps, Vladimir (Stewart) and Estragon (McKellan), as they wait for the mysterious Godot. This new production, directed by Sean Mathias, claims to be the theatre event of the year, and will be touring various venues throughout the spring before settling down for a run at London's Haymarket Theatre Royal between the 30th April and 28th June. Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart last worked together on the hugely popular X-Men films but first collaborated way back in 1977 in Tom Stoppard's Every Good Boy Deserves Favours for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Writing on his official website, Sir Ian McKellen simply said: 'I am in work again. And I couldn't be happier.'
