Pop superstar Kylie is to be awarded an OBE for her services to music.
The news was announced as part of this year's annual New Year's Honours List, which pays tribute to outstanding achievements right across the community.
Kylie, who celebrates twenty years in the business this year, has sold over forty million records worldwide and recently overcame breast cancer, to come back stronger than ever with her triumphant Showgirl - Homecoming Tour.
[none]Other members of the music world honoured in this year's list include Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson (MBE), Soul II Soul's Jazzie B (OBE) and Beggars Group founder Martin Mills (MBE).
Speaking to the BBC, Kylie said:
'This last year I have felt so much love and support from everyone as I took greater steps back into the public domain, and it is with absolute gratitude and joy that I say farewell to 2007 and look forward to what the New Year will bring.'
