(500) Days Of Summer
The story is quite simple: Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a greeting card writer in Los Angeles who falls for the office secretary, Summer (Zooey Deschanel). As soon as Summer tells Tom she loves The Smiths, it's more or less love at first sight. As they fall into a rather casual relationship, Summer abruptly dumps Tom and the poor guy revisits every single moment of their time together (500 days, to be precise) in the hopes of finding the one thing that will encourage her to take him back. At the beginning of the film, we are told precisely that this is not a love story. (500) Days of Summer is more interested in the ambiguity, crossed signals and false hopes of young love. It is definitely worth a watch, as (500) Days of Summer delivers something a little more refreshing and offbeat than your typical romantic comedy.
