The Proposal 
The Proposal stars Sandra Bullock as a pushy Canadian publishing hotshot who blackmails her American assistant (Ryan Reynolds) into marriage in order to avoid being deported back to her homeland. He reluctantly accepts, but only on the basis that he is promoted. In order to sell the lie as the government check up on their relationship, they must spend a weekend together, where he drags her to Alaska to introduce her to his family. This madcap rom-com is straight out of a Meet The Parents script, which means it doesn't break any new ground, but works well because of Bullock and Reynolds' terrific performances. If you are looking for something different from the onslaught of blockbuster summer flicks dominating the screens at the moment, then this film should be just the ticket.
