The Young Victoria
The Young Victoria tells the story of Queen Victoria's younger years and presents a passionate story of her coming to power, her romance with Prince Albert and her struggle for independence from her parents. But these passionate plot points are tempered by a film that is, for all intents and purposes, very pleasant viewing. There's nothing here to really offend, apart from perhaps a few historical inaccuracies, but likewise it's not offensively bland, it's just...nice. Martin Scorsese reportedly lent a hand with this production, and in all honesty it shows. With powerful performances from the entire cast, but especially Rupert Friend - his interpretation of Prince Albert is worth the price of admission alone. To summarize then, if you're the kind of person who reads Philippa Gregory novels whilst commuting, enjoyed watching Kirsten Dunst's 'Marie Antoinette', or have any interest in historical dramatisations then this movie is a must see.
