Tropic Thunder 
Ben Stiller directs in this big-budget and controversial action comedy that aims to pastiche Hollywood. When a Vietnam war movie goes seriously over budget, the director (Steve Coogan) opts to drop the group of precious actors in the real jungle with the intention to film them on the cheap, 'guerrilla style'. Now in a real warzone the oblivious actors, including Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr), Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black at his bug-eyed best) and action hero Tugg Speedman (a vain and egotistical character typical of Stiller), must escape the jungle with only blank ammunition to protect them. Robert Downey Jr gets the biggest laughs in this patchy movie, and manages to handle the difficult issue of a white actor being 'blacked up' in 2008 with his impressive acting skills.
