When aspiring artist Ben (Sean Biggerstaff) gets dumped by his girlfriend, he suddenly develops chronic insomnia, gaining an extra eight hours a day. Figuring he might as well do something useful with his time, Ben takes a night job in a supermarket. After two weeks without sleep, Ben begins hallucinating, imagining that he can stop time in order to appreciate the beauty around him - especially that of check-out girl Sharon (Emilia Fox), whose quiet and gentle nature may just hold the key to Ben's sleeplessness.
