Music of the Ashigs from Azerbaijan

An Ashig is bard or troubadour - a composer, poet, singer, musician - from an ancient mystic tradition of the Turkic world of Central Asia, Iran, Turkey, Caucasus and Northwest China. An ensemble of master musicians creates rich, powerful and entertaining music, which has been passed down from the fourteenth century, and remains a potent force for the heart and soul. Presented by the Pakistan Cultural Society (PCS) in association with Asian Music Circuit (AMC).
