True examples of cult underground success, Modest Mouse make the kind of music that manages to be commercially successful whilst still retaining its alternative cool. With influences from Sonic Youth and Mogwai clearly distinguishable, their individuality nevertheless shines through. Having gained notoriety as the saviours of American post-grunge, Modest Mouse’s music is an eccentric cocktail of distorted guitars, disjointed rhythms and haunting vocals from infamous lead singer Isaac Brock.
