Espers

Neo-psychedelic folk troupe Espers, were formed in Philadelphia in 2002. Taking inspiration from both mediaeval and 1960’s English folk, their music is reminiscent of Fairport Convention and Pentangle. Friends of fellow nu-folk revivalists Vashti Bunyan, Nick Castro and Devendra Banhart they are considered an important part of the contemporary American folk scene. Espers’ music ‘leaves you both soothed and disturbed, lulled and shaken by the group’s masterful blend of the comforting and the uncanny, slightly dazed as if returning from time travel or a knock on the head.’ (stylusmagazine.com)
