The Strangerhood

Bishop's Stortford four-piece The Strangerhood, who categorise their highly original quasi-electronic style as 'dirtyacousticsynthnoiserock', are one of the most popular acts on the local music scene. At the core of their sound are the powerful and emotional compositions of frontman Dean Austin, who wields his acoustic guitar like a weapon as he belts out the lyrics with an almost intimidating intensity. The cherry on top of the musical cake comes from his comrades, who lay down some hypnotic, insistent dance-style beats and grooves layered with echoing, distorted cries of electronic noise that sound like some crazed disco from another planet. Experimental but highly listenable, The Strangerhood are a real one-off.
