He speaks tenderly of love lost and mislaid, touches gently on haemorrhoids, treads warily round the hole in the sum of his parts and deals admirably briefly with the nature and meaning of time. Poems are interspersed with probing questions such as 'If love can build a bridge, can affection put up a shelf?'...and stories of imaginary friends, mistaken identity, male bonding and the struggle to give up Buddhism.
