Peter Ackroyd's re-telling of The Canterbury Tales brilliantly combines his skills as a historian and writer, and he describes his inspiration in translating them, combined with readings, at this unique event. From the Wife of Bath, to the Knight and the Miller, Ackroyd has captured the flavour of the individual tales, but this is also a portrait of medieval London society brought to life by perhaps its greatest living historian.
