More Information

Ash

Ash

Northern Ireland's favourite sons who hit the big time with their massive debut album '1977'. As part of the mid-nineties Britpop phenomenon, Ash always stood out as the rebels of the genre, making grungy post-rock and anthemic indie, which, to this day, has gained them rave reviews and a strong and loyal following.

Idlewild

Idlewild

Scottish alt-rockers whose huge Stateside success finally (and deservedly) transferred to their home shores in 2002, as the singles 'You Held The World In Your Arms' and 'American English' stormed the charts. Passionate rock'n'roll, brimming with restrained aggression.

Noah & The Whale

Noah & The Whale

Energetic popsters from London whose proficient songs and live sets employ beautiful harmonies and elements of folk and bluegrass to good effect. Their hit song '5 Years' Time' is sufficient to reel in any potential fan, as their packed-out gigs would suggest.

The Rumble Strips

The Rumble Strips

Rumble Strips hail from Devon, with a look and sound that's completely their own. They mix thundering brass and drums with singer Charlie Waller's [former member of Vincent Vincent and the Villains] soaring vocals. Their music is born out of brilliantly self-deprecating lyrics underpinning glorious, uplifting melodies and pop-hooks. Two limited singles released earlier last year set tongues a-wagging and cemented The Rumble Strips' place as one of the most exciting new bands for 2007.

Emmy The Great

Emmy The Great

Emmy the Great writes songs for her friends. Her friends are all double crossing liars, and some of them are dead. Emmy seems to have come out of nowhere, sharing an aesthetic backdrop with Cat Power and Regina Spektor. A point of note for any audience would be the directness and frankness with which she approaches lyricism, a keen contender on the British anti-folk scene.

Cornershop

Asian pop crossover band whose sounds is a 'joyful infusion of psychedelic thinking and cross-genre thinking' (NME) best known for their chart-topping Brimful Of Asha. They also perform a DJ set.

Mumford & Sons

Mumford & Sons

West London quartet Mumford & Sons create classic, bluegrass-inspired folkster songs, that has quickly created a buzz across the British media. As peers of Laura Marling and Noah and The Whale, vocalist Marcus Mumford is a wonderfully wise and weathered songwriter in his own right. The band's debut EP, 'Lend Me Your Eyes' was released in July 2008, through Chess Club Recordings.

Punch And The Apostles

The Yards

The Seahorses' Chris Helme with his new band, featuring former Shed Seven guitarist Paul Banks. The Yards are what happens when a devilishly inventive rock band collide with classical strings. If you combine Chris Helme's darkly poetic, distinctive voice with Paul Banks' grinding guitars and a gorgeously snaking cello, you have a sound unlike anything you have experienced before, joyfully uplifting and sleazily cool. The Yards really are all about the music.
