Beth Orton

Darling of the music press whose quiet, slow dreamy songs blend trip-hop breaks with folky guitar and haunting vocals. First noticed by dance music supremo William Orbit when a suitably inebriated Orton sang on his 'Strange Cargo' albums. There is a definite 70s folk influence, (Neil Young, Rickie Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell), which has effortlessly moved to the noughties.

Bert Jansch

Bert Jansch

Legendary folk guitarist, singer and songwriter whose fans include Noel Gallagher and Jarvis Cocker. Founder member of the Pentangle, with a solo career that has been active, innovative and influential. His performances are an understated, low key approach; the audience being treated to a guitar playing master class with an impressive catalogue of emotive and haunting songs. Neil Young says 'as much a great player as Jimi Hendrix was, Bert Jansch is the same thing for acoustic guitar...and my favourite.'

John McCusker

John McCusker is one of Scotland's foremost traditional musicians; winner of the BBC Radio Folk Musician of the Year in 2003. John McCusker started playing the fiddle at the age of seven, joined The Battlefield Band at 17, and has also worked as a producer for Eliza Carthy and Kate Rusby.
