2009 marks the 150th anniversary of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge (2 May 1859). It also marks the 250th anniversary of Smeaton’s Tower (16 October 1759) - a structure that set the pattern for a new era of lighthouse construction when it rose from the rocks of the Eddystone Reef. Come and find out more about these super structures and the men behind their design and build - and help us celebrate two world famous engineering icons right on our doorstep!
