More Information

Radiohead

Radiohead

Mega-selling UK altrock stars from Oxford. They first came to widespread attention with their anthemic polemic of self-loathing, 'Creep'. This was followed by two critically and publicly acclaimed albums: 'The Bends' and 'OK Computer' exploring themes of alienation and dislocation. The direction of their next two albums was more experimental, but with 2003's 'Hail To The Thief' they returned to a more mainstream sound.

Bloc Party

Bloc Party

Reared on a diet of pop culture and good music, Bloc Party's Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Gordon Moakes and Matt Tong met through the small ads of the music press to create a band who now make the headlines. Ask them their influences, and they say they've been influenced by it all. Live, Bloc Party '...rip through new classics...like they've written them 20 minutes before the gig - the ferocity and adrenaline of youth shines through the angular rhythms and layers of effects.' (bbc.co.uk) They also play regular DJ slots up and down the country.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Three-piece from New York City who have supported both The Strokes and The White Stripes. With stripped-down minimalism, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fashion sassy garage blues-punk out of little more than a few carefully chosen chords and singer Karen's schoolgirl trill-turned-tortured hyena howl.

Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

New York band Vampire Weekend rather oddly, but rather delightfully, combine African rhythms and Peter Gabriel-esque vocals with an urban, punkish tone. They describe themselves as specialists in the styles of 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, Upper West Side Soweto, Campus, and Oxford Comma Riddim.' As they themselves suggest, they have to be heard to be believed.

Brand New

Brand New

Four piece New York group Brand New, whose roots hail from the Long Island independent and hardcore scenes, have been making their own brand of emo and hardcore since they began making music together in the late 1990s. Their sell-out shows and emotional tales of heartbreak coupled with belting choruses and no-nonsense performances have made Brand New one of the leading bands of their generation.
