The Boy Least Likely To

The Boy Least Likely To

Charming pop from this cartoon-obsessed duo. Switching between sounding like English gents one moment, to Swedish popsters the next, The Boy Least Likely To make the simplest of music with the maximum of effect. 'A homespun blend of tender country folk, Beach Boys melodies and ramshackle disco that sounds like Belle and Sebastian mucking about in the rec room.’ – RollingStone.

The Broken Family Band

The Broken Family Band

A band from Cambridge with a disturbing take on country rock. Dark lyrics mix with uplifting music to create an oddly moving experience. Dan Sartain

Dan Sartain

A wonderfully raw mix of mod-rock, blues, punk and Elvis-esque rockabilly. Dan Sartain sounds like Johnny Cash would if he’d been in the Sex Pistols or Gene Vincent if he’d been in The Libertines. A gnarly mix of unrefined, ramshackle blues, distinctively punky riffs and Sartain’s devil-worship drawl. ‘Join Dan Sartain? Forget that: I want to be Dan Sartain.’ – Drowned in Sound

J. Tillman

Drummer and backing vocalist of Fleet Foxes and a solo act in his own right. Drawing comparisons with the likes of Nick Drake, Will Oldham, Jason Molina and Elliot Smith. Malcolm Middleton

Malcolm Middleton

Born and raised in Falkirk, Scotland, Malcolm Middleton first found fame as a prominent member of Scottish lo-fi folk group Arab Strap. Middleton's solo career, which he ran alongside Arab Strap until their split in 2006, has provided a perfect outlet for his personal, harrowing and heartfelt songwriting. 'While his morale languishes somewhere in a cold Falkirk bedsit, melodically his songs whoop from mountain peaks.' – Observer Music Monthly.

Okkervil River

Okkervil River

'As in great theater, most get ruined by heartbreak or choose suicide rather than exist without the passion they can never have. Okkervil River plays loose and fast with literary concepts. The quartet's 'Black Sheep Boy' adopts its character from the Tim Hardin song and deposits him into weeping folk-rock fables about cursed fates, scarred emotions and marooned lives.' - Chicago Tribune.
